Breast Cancer Breast Cancer Basics

Stage 0 breast cancer is cancer that has not spread out of the breast tissue

Breast cancer is categorized into five main stages, 0–IV. Stage 0 breast cancers are those where the breast cancer is seen only in the milk ducts or tubes of the breast or within the lobules of the breast. It has not spread and will likely remain confined to the breast. Due to the increasing use of screening mammograms, women without any symptoms of breast cancer are being screened. This imaging method can pick up abnormalities at an earlier stage. Little specks of calcium can be noticed within the breast, which might indicate this very early form of cancer. Before such widespread use of mammograms, these signs might have gone undetected.
